New Teacher Mentoring

The final stage of UNITE’s urban teacher preparation model is New Teacher Mentoring. Research shows that new teachers who participate in a mentoring program with an experienced teacher not only stay teaching longer, but also have an increased impact on student learning.

Currently UNITE offers workshops and events for our new urban teachers who have participated in various stages of our urban teacher preparation model.

UNITE is working with stakeholders in Chicago to establish a two-year mentoring program for our members who have graduated from our First Summer programming to continue their support and increase the number of opportunities to grow as an educator and overcome the challenges of high needs schools.

If your organization or corporation is interested in partnering with or sponsoring UNITE’s New Teacher Mentoring program, please contact UNITE at unite@urbanneeds.org.
